CONTEST: Guess the food pictured!

Given the holiday season, I'm giving away surprise gifts to the first three of you who correctly guess the food in the picture. The only hint I will give you is that it is homemade.

Please post your answer along with your email address by 6pm Eastern Time on Tuesday, December 6th. I'll notify the winners that evening by email and also post on the blog.

Good luck - I'm dying to see what everyone guesses!

My guess is something sweet with mangoes. Is it melted mango icecream/kulfi? Looks like it is topped with some nuts, hmm..yep, pistachios.

Or ravioli in some sort of curried sauce/sweet sauce?

    Are you laughing?...:)

You have to give us atleast one more hint, Lulu. Is it sweet or savory? You mentioned holiday season so it must be a sweet, right?

  6. Looks like homemade mango icecream/kulfi and the green bits look like pistachios.

  7. Actually, it looks too smooth to be kulfi. Could be mango shrikhand!

I'd be surprised if it's not a dessert. Doesn't look like it has some spices and condiments. So my guesses are:
    1. Shrikhand
    2. Mango kulfi/icecream-topped-with-Mango-or-custard
    3. Fruit salad with custard topping

  17. Ok...Just to be different... cheddar cheese dip..U must be lol..

  18. guacamole dip?

  19. its yellow!!!
So, either mango rasmalai or some kadhi with pakodis...
but i think maybe mango rasmaali - it would be a very scary kadhi, and i cant see any tej-patta if it was a savory

  20. Ok, let me take a stab at this too..

most definitely sweet... some form of rabdi/rabri? mango rasmalai?

Whatever it is, looks delicious :-)

Thodarumm, what are you talking about? Cheese bake in that yellow colour, really? you think that the homecook got creative and added a dab (or more) of turmeric to the cheese?:):)

  22. Anonymous4:57 PM

Yep, turmeric brings beauty, sometimes annoyance too.
Maybe that is a small, very falt, mini samosa that kind you make with wonton wraps in a curry sauce? how is that sounds?:)
I really should go and do something? I don't know why but I am hanging around here toomuch, that yellow colour is doing something to my brain.:)

  26. Lulu - two guesses from My Dhaba.

    1. Adarsh, our taste tester, says, "no doubt dad, it is ice cream." :-) I am modifying that to homemade vanilla bean ice cream.

    2. Shrikhand comes to my mind when I look at it.

    Can't wait anymore!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hmmm two more guesses from My Dhaba; it could also be Kesar Saffron Falooda or caramel/egg custard tart :-)
